About

Hi, I'm Gemma, the founder of Morchard English Academy. I help children build the skills and confidence to use English in the real world, not just in the classroom. With many years of experience teaching English to students worldwide, I have seen first-hand how much faster children progress when lessons are practical, engaging and centred around their genuine interests.

My Story

I am an English teacher from the UK and have taught online to children in more than forty countries. From shy beginners taking their first steps in English to confident young speakers preparing for international exams, I have seen every stage of the learning journey.

Along the way I noticed something important.

Most children learn English at school mainly to pass tests. At the same time, many caring parents unknowingly make progress harder by putting too much pressure on their children or relying on endless drills and memorisation. Although well-intentioned, these methods can damage confidence and make English feel stressful instead of enjoyable.

Real success comes when children can use English naturally to share ideas, make friends and understand the world around them. That is why I created Morchard English Academy: to give children the tools, confidence and motivation to truly enjoy using English every day.

My Approach

Learning should feel exciting, not stressful. The courses and resources I provide are designed to give children:

  • Real-life communication skills they can use straight away

  • Interactive activities that make learning memorable

  • Support and encouragement that build confidence and motivation

I also create resources for parents, giving you the tools to guide your child’s learning journey and build a positive English environment at home.

Whether your child is a complete beginner or already has strong English skills, these materials help them take the next step and enjoy the process.

A Personal Note

I believe every child has a unique learning journey, and my role is to help them enjoy it at every stage. For me, real progress is when parents tell me their child is enjoying English more and approaching it with greater confidence.

Together we can help your child thrive in English, for school, for life and for the future.
